Merit Badge Fair
Clark's Trading Post in Lincoln, NH will be hosting three Merit Badge Fairs in June. We have talented Merit Badge Counselors that are specialized in Railroading, Mammal Study, Environmental Science, and Geology. After each presentation, the counselors will sign blue cards for Scouts who have attended and successfully completed all prerequisite work. This event does sell out, so book early.
REGISTRATION - Registration is online only and must be received by May 20, 2017 to participate. A non-refundable check for the full payment is required at the time of registration. Scouts are able to register independently or with their entire Troop for the Merit Badge Fair. We recommend Scouts attend no more than two Merit Badge presentations in one day.
COST - The cost is $18 per person, which includes both the Merit Badge Fair and entrance into the Clark's Trading Post Theme Park. Your ticket includes all rides, all shows, all day. (There is an additional $8 fee per Scout participating in the Geology badge).
FAMILY MEMBERS - The Scout's family is welcome to visit Clark's as well, but only Scouts and Troop Leaders are allowed into the presentations. Family members ages 4 and above will receive the $18 rate per person but they must be included in the registration.
CHECK-IN - Each Scout must check-in at the railroad station from 9:30-10:30. At this time the Scout will turn in all his prerequisite work and blue cards. Please have the Scout make a separate packet for each presentation they will be attending with their name and troop number neatly on them.
BLUE CARDS - The blue cards need to be signed in advance by your Scoutmaster and neatly filled out for each presentation you are taking. This includes the Scout's name, troop number, address and badge name on all three sections of the blue card. Simply attending a presentation does not mean a blue card will be signed. Scouts must complete prerequisite work, participate in discussions and activities and meet the requirements.
PREREQUISITES - Print the worksheet for each Merit Badge you wish to participate in by going to www.meritbadge.org. Complete the perquisites listed in the course description. Bring your worksheet, workbook, and pencils with you. If you completed prerequisite work that cannot be brought with you, please bring a photograph of the work you did. If multiple Scouts worked on the project, have each Scout submit a photograph with their work.
INCOMPLETE WORK - If the prerequisite work did not have enough content, the counselor will make notes for the Scout to correct. The Scout can mail improved work along with their blue card to Clark's Trading Post with a self addressed stamped envelope. If a Scout is unable to complete the prerequisite work by the day of the Merit Badge Fair, they will receive partial credit for the requirements fulfilled by the presentation. Scouts are able to send completed work and their blue card to Clark's Trading Post with a self addressed stamped envelope. We will have the counselor look over your work and sign if complete.
